TELLING ON HOLLYWOOD

By Robert Grandon
March 14, 1932

Elissa Landi coaxed me to burn the midnight oil with her last night, proof reading her new book, “House For Sale,” which is listed for release in April. Wish I had her ambition… with all her studio activities and dartings back to London to visit her mother and husband... He’s Barrister John Lawrence, you know… Elissa Landi has found time to write a book… What’s more important, she’s found a publisher.

All Hollywood seems to have been bitten by the writing bug the last few months. Jimmy Gleason is plugging away at a novel with Jerry Horwin, Universal scenarist. “Air and Water” is the title, and it’s about two press agents for a channel swimmer. Jimmy helped author “Is Zat So?” his greatest stage success.

Having annexed herself a young husband, Elsie Janis has issued her autobiography, “So Far, So Good.” It covers her life of single blessedness… What will the sequel be?

Irving Pichel is still authoring work of a serious character, as witness “The Modern Stage”… and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. is accredited with writing and illustrating various sketches for the monthlies.

Wonder where Jackie Cooper will begin.
